Welcome to Ateneo Grand ADDU Alumni Homecoming, 2014

[Welcome Address to Grand ADDU Alumni Homecoming, 2014, Dec 30., SMX Lanang, Davao]

To Dr. Victor Espino, the Batch 89 Alumni Homecoming Chair, and Alumni/ae:

It is my privilege this evening in the name of the entire Ateneo de Davao University to welcome you all to this evening’s Ateneo Grand Alumni Homecoming. I welcome all our alumni/ae, their families and friends. I welcome especially the Golden-Jubilarian honorees of ‘64 and the Silver-Jubiliarian homecoming organizers of ‘89. I welcome you to this night of fellowship here at SMX Lanang, where, as your organizers have put so well, Blueknights “gather to reconnect with classmates and friends and rekindle old friendships while enjoying good food, overflowing drinks and entertainment.”

Thank you for complementing this bountiful event with your medical outreach activities for special children in Bangkal in partnership with the Davao Association for the Deaf! Thank you for all you do in your lives in being women and men for others forever.

From my end, let me simply say: your alma mater is well – thanks especially to you who help keep it well through your sustained interest in our welfare, your sending your children and scholars to our school, your contributions to our scholarship programs, your valued participation in our Parent-Teacher-and Student organizations, your participation in our consultations and our Board of Trustees!

While Ateneo de Davao is changing with its implementation of the K-12 program in basic education, changing with its new higher education programs in environmental science, anthropology, entrepreneurship in agri-business, inter-disciplinary studies and Islamic studies, changing with its new emphasis on university research and outreach, changing with its new parking building in Matina, and in Jacinto, its new blue Community Center and Sports and Assembly center, while it continues to change in response to new challenges in our Mindanao, nation and globe, it is still Ateneo Forever, a solid Jesuit, Catholic and Filipino university in the forever search for truth, the beloved Ateneo of our forever-memories of personal formation, the Ateneo of our forever ideals and aspirations, the Ateneo of our forever friends and lifelong companions, the Ateneo where we have learned forever excellence and magis, being women and men for others, and our commitment ad majorem Dei gloriam – to the greater glory of God!

To this Ateneo – proudly Ateneo de DavaoAteneo Forever, I welcome you home!
