Salaam, I wish you peace!

fr joel salaam

Salaam!  I wish you peace!
You who have struggled and fought for your Islamic faith here in Mindanao

Salaam!  I wish you peace!
You who have shed your blood in defense of your way of life in Mindanao

Salaam!  I wish you peace!
You who have fought for lost lands, identity and rule in Mindanao

Salaam!  I wish you peace!
You who have had to fight the Filipino to establish how you are fully Filipino

Salaam!  I wish you peace!
You who found support in Islamic countries which you did not find in ours

Salaam!  I wish you peace!
You who have negotiated, hoped and dreamed beyond endless disappointments and reversals,

Salaam, I wish you peace!
You who have endured poverty, discrimination, displacement and war,

Salaam, I wish you peace!
You who are old, you who are youth, you who are Moro, you who are Muslim, you who in Mindanao are Bangsamoro, and proudly so

Salaam, I wish you peace!
You who as Bangsamoro are Filipino in a diversity of cultures and beliefs

Salaam, I wish you peace!
I wish you peace who believe in your one God and his Prophet!
I wish you peace who pray five times a day!
I wish you peace who give alms to the poor!
I wish you peace who fast during Ramadan!
I wish you peace who make your pilgrimage to Mecca!

Salaam, may these be the pillars of your homeland in Mindanao!
Salaam, I as Christian am enriched in you.
Gratefully, I say yes to you.

Salaam, I wish you peace!
